  The land for the church and cemetery was donated by
Elder Joseph Shannon on October 24th, 1834.
  Dr. Nathaniel Hood was the first pastor of Bethesda
Church from 1832 to 1844 and the last pastor was Rev.
Benjamin Lea in 1871.
   The church was used as a Confederate Hospital
during the War for Southern Independence.
